Job summary

Diligent Group in Redbank, Brisbane area seeks an experienced Diesel Fitter/Heavy Plant Mechanic to maintain and repair a diverse fleet of construction and heavy plant equipment. The role spans workshop maintenance and field breakdowns, with a company vehicle provided for breakdown and site work.

You will service cranes, piling rigs and excavators, perform preventative maintenance, diagnose faults, and ensure safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification required (Diesel Fitter or Heavy Plant Mechanic).
• Experience maintaining heavy construction or mobile plant equipment.
• Experience with excavators, cranes, piling rigs or similar machinery.
• Strong mechanical and hydraulic diagnostic skills.
• Experience completing breakdown and field-service repairs.
• Ability to diagnose faults with minimal supervision.
• Current Australian driver’s licence.
• Strong commitment to safety.

Job description

Our client is an established construction and engineering business is seeking an experienced Diesel Fitter / Heavy Plant Mechanic to join its team based in Redbank, Brisbane.

This is a hands-on position maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of construction and heavy plant equipment. The successful candidate will work across both workshop maintenance and field breakdowns, with a company vehicle supplied for breakdown and site work.

The Role

You will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, diagnosis and repair of construction and heavy plant equipment, including:

• Cranes
• Piling rigs
• Excavators
• Heavy construction equipment
• Mobile plant and associated machinery

Your duties will include:

• Scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance
• Breakdown diagnosis and repairs
• Mechanical, hydraulic and electrical fault finding
• Field-service and onsite breakdown work
• Equipment inspections
• Component repairs and replacement
• Maintaining accurate service and maintenance records
• Ensuring equipment is operating safely and reliably
• Working independently when attending breakdowns and site call-outs

About You

We are looking for someone who is confident working autonomously and has strong practical experience maintaining heavy plant or construction equipment.

Ideally, you will have:

• Trade qualification as a Diesel Fitter, Heavy Plant Mechanic, Mobile Plant Mechanic or equivalent
• Previous experience maintaining heavy construction or mobile plant equipment
• Experience with excavators, cranes, piling rigs, earthmoving equipment or similar machinery
• Strong mechanical and hydraulic diagnostic skills
• Experience completing breakdown and field-service repairs
• Ability to diagnose faults and complete repairs with minimal supervision
• Current Australian driver's licence
• Strong commitment to safety
• Reliable, practical and hands-on approach

Experience working with equipment from manufacturers such as CAT, Komatsu, Hitachi, Liebherr, Tadano, Grove, Franna, Terex or similar will be highly regarded.
