Job summary

Ozzy Cranes Manufacturing is seeking a qualified Metal Fabricator for our Coolum Beach workshop. You will fabricate, weld, and assemble heavy structural steel components for cranes and lifting equipment, reading complex drawings and maintaining high precision.

Ideal candidates bring 2–3 years of post‑qualification experience in heavy fabrication, strong welding skills (MIG, FCAW, TIG), and a commitment to WHS standards.

Qualifications

• Hold Australian trade qualifications in fabrication or equivalent.
• Post-qualification experience as Metal Fabricator/Boilermaker/Welder 2–3 years.
• Proficient in GMAW/MIG, FCAW, GTAW/TIG welding across positions.
• Strong blueprint reading and fabrication specification skills.
• Familiar with AS/NZS 1554 and AS 1418 welding standards.

Responsibilities

• Study engineering drawings and welding specs to determine requirements and sequences.
• Prepare structural steel plates, beams and stock for fabrication.
• Measure, mark out, cut and fit metal components with precision tools.
• Form, bend and shape heavy steel sections using press brakes and rolls.
• Wield and assemble parts; tack and final weld to spec in all positions.
• Inspect welds for penetration and alignment; ensure structural integrity.
• Operate overhead cranes and lifting gear safely within the workshop.
