Job summary

Condabri Beef (Drury Farming Company Pty Ltd) is seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our Workshop team near Miles. You will service, diagnose and repair a diverse fleet of heavy vehicles, agricultural machinery and feedlot equipment.

The roster is 10 days on / 4 days off, offering consistent hours and a good work-life balance within a modern, well-equipped workshop.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in heavy diesel mechanics.
• Experience servicing heavy vehicles and agricultural machinery.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Sound knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics and electrical systems.
• Current driver's licence; heavy vehicle licence advantageous.
• Safety-focused with good communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, service and repair heavy diesel machinery.
• Perform preventative maintenance and servicing.
• Maintain trucks, trailers, loaders, tractors and feedlot equipment.
• Diagnose hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic faults.
• Complete maintenance records using Gearbox maintenance software.
• Collaborate with workshop supervisor and operations teams.
• Promote safety and high workmanship standards.
• Support operators with basic troubleshooting.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our Workshop team.

Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, this is a hands‑on role responsible for servicing, maintaining, diagnosing and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy vehicles, agricultural machinery and feedlot equipment.

One day you could be working on a prime mover, the next a loader, tractor or piece of specialised feedlot equipment. It's a varied role suited to someone who enjoys problem solving, takes pride in their work and wants to be part of a workshop that supports the entire business.

The position operates on a 10 days on / 4 days off roster, providing a consistent roster and genuine work‑life balance.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, service and repair heavy diesel machinery and equipment
• Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance and servicing
• Maintain and repair trucks, trailers, loaders, tractors and agricultural equipment
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic faults
• Respond to breakdowns and complete repairs efficiently to minimise downtime
• Complete accurate maintenance and job records using Gearbox maintenance management software
• Work closely with the Workshop Supervisor, Storeperson and operational teams to plan repairs and servicing
• Identify potential equipment issues before they become major failures
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop
• Ensure work is completed to a high standard and in accordance with WHS requirements
• Support operators with basic equipment troubleshooting and fault identification
• Contribute ideas to improve equipment reliability, workshop efficiency and preventative maintenance

What You'll Bring

• Trade qualification as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic / Diesel Fitter or equivalent
• Experience maintaining heavy vehicles, agricultural machinery, earthmoving equipment or similar
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• Sound knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical and mechanical systems
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Current driver's licence
• Heavy vehicle and forklift licences are advantageous
• Commitment to safe work practices
• A practical, reliable and positive "can do" attitude
• Experience in agriculture or feedlots is advantageous but not essential. If you're a good mechanic with the right attitude, we'll teach you the operation.
