Job summary

The Midfield Group in Warrnambool, Victoria, is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to inspect, maintain, and repair heavy vehicles and equipment onsite under the Transport Manager. You will join a team of skilled mechanical tradespeople, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure operations meet safety and regulatory standards.

Applicants must have a trade qualification as a heavy vehicle/diesel mechanic and the right to work in Australia.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a heavy vehicle/diesel mechanic.
• Good mechanical aptitude; welding and fabrication knowledge advantageous.
• Experience in maintenance of heavy vehicles and equipment is advantageous.
• Ability to troubleshoot wiring, hydraulic systems.
• Right to work in Australia; drug and alcohol test; pre-employment medical if required.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain heavy vehicles and equipment safely per regs.
• Inspect and correct deficiencies; perform preventive maintenance.
• Identify and repair worn components; report issues.
• Maintain accurate records (time, repair orders, parts usage) on computer.
• Follow DVR procedures; complete service and brake forms and paperwork.

We currently have a position available for an experienced Diesel Mechanic in Warrnambool, Victoria. In this role, you will work alongside a team of skilled mechanical tradespeople to perform onsite maintenance, reporting to the Transport Manager. You will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing heavy vehicles, mobile plant, and equipment efficiently to ensure the business’s operational requirements are consistently met.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform repair and maintenance of heavy vehicles, and equipment in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies
• Undertaking detailed inspections of heavy vehicles and equipment and correct equipment deficiencies and perform preventive maintenance on company own equipment
• Identify and repair or report worn or failed components, etc.
• Maintaining accurate records (time, repair orders and parts usage) on computer
• Follow administrative procedures for completion of DVR’s as instructed
• Complete service forms, brake forms and other paperwork accurately and legibly in accordance with company guidelines

Skills & Experiences

• Trade qualification as a heavy vehicle / diesel mechanic
• Good mechanical aptitude with basic knowledge of welding and fabrication would be advantage
• Some experience within a maintenance related fields performing troubleshooting, repair and maintenance on compactors, containers, and related equipment is advantageous
• Ability to troubleshoot and make repairs to basic wiring, control wiring and hydraulic systems
• You have the right to work in Australia
• You must pass a drug & alcohol test and be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical if required

Salary Range: $90,000-$105,000 pa + super
