Job summary

Cleanaway is hiring a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic for our Tullamarine workshop in Melbourne. You will lead maintenance and repair of our waste truck fleet, diagnosing faults and performing servicing to keep the fleet safe and compliant.

The role requires a Cert III or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Mechanic/Diesel Fitter, with a practical approach to hydraulics and electrics. HR licence is advantageous, and a strong commitment to safety and teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic / Diesel Fitter (Cert III or equivalent).
• A valid HR licence is advantageous.
• Solid understanding of hydraulics and electrics.
• Experience with fleet maintenance and running repairs.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy vehicles.
• Conduct scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance for fleet safety and compliance.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults.
• Maintain service records using fleet management systems.
• Support workshop safety and cleanliness per WHS policies.
• Carry out basic welding and grinding work as required.

• Permanent Full Time Position - Afternoon Shift Monday - Friday
• Modern Fleet of Heavy Vehicles
• Competitive Hourly Rate + Afternoon shift loading
• $49.51 + shift penalty + site allowance

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a skilled and experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our team at our Tullamarine, VIC workshop. In this hands-on role, you will take the lead in maintaining and repairing our fleet of waste trucks and truck bodies, ensuring everything runs safely and efficiently.

• Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of heavy vehicles
• Conduct scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance to ensure fleet safety and compliance
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults
• Maintain accurate service records using fleet management systems
• Support workshop safety and cleanliness in line with WHS policies
• Carry out basic welding and grinding work as required

About You

• Trade qualification as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic / Diesel Fitter (Cert III or equivalent)
• A valid HR licence (advantageous)
• Strong understanding of hydraulics and electrics
