Job summary

AIM Recruitment Solutions is looking for a qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join a busy workshop in Kyneton, Victoria. You will perform heavy vehicle servicing, diagnostics, repairs and preventative maintenance on a diverse fleet, reporting to the Workshop Manager.

The ideal candidate holds a Certificate III in Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent, with experience on trucks, buses or coaches, strong fault-finding skills, and a current Australian driver’s licence.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or equivalent in heavy vehicle mechanics.
• Experience servicing heavy vehicles (trucks, buses, coaches).
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Current Australian driver’s licence; heavy vehicle licence highly regarded.
• Ability to work independently and in a workshop team.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, servicing, inspections and repairs on heavy vehicles.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, braking, suspension, drivetrain, cooling and engine systems.
• Complete fault finding using specialised equipment and tools.
• Carry out repairs across a diverse heavy vehicle fleet.
• Maintain service records, job cards and workshop documentation.
• Conduct vehicle safety inspections and ensure WHS compliance.
• Assist with breakdown repairs and general workshop activities.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety and vehicle reliability.

We are currently partnering with an established passenger transport operator to recruit an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join their workshop team in Kyneton, Victoria.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic to join a professional workshop responsible for maintaining a safe, reliable and operational passenger transport fleet. Reporting to the Workshop Manager, you will undertake heavy vehicle servicing, diagnostics, repairs, preventative maintenance and fault finding, helping maximise fleet reliability and vehicle availability.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, scheduled servicing, inspections and repairs on heavy vehicles
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, braking, suspension, drivetrain, cooling and engine systems
• Complete fault finding and diagnostics using specialised equipment and tools
• Carry out repairs and maintenance across a diverse heavy vehicle fleet
• Maintain accurate service records, job cards and workshop documentation
• Conduct vehicle safety inspections and ensure compliance with WHS requirements
• Assist with breakdown repairs and general workshop activities
• Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety and vehicle reliability

About You

• Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology, Automotive Mechanical Technology (Heavy Vehicle), or equivalent
• Previous experience as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, Truck Mechanic, Bus Mechanic or Heavy Vehicle Technician
• Experience servicing and repairing trucks, buses, coaches or other heavy vehicles
• Strong mechanical diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a workshop team
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship
• Current Australian driver’s licence
• Heavy vehicle licence highly regarded
