Job summary

D&E Air Conditioning is seeking a proactive Health Safety Environment & Quality Officer to join our national mechanical services team. Based in Sydney, you will lead site inspections, risk assessments, SWMS development, inductions and incident investigations across projects.

You’ll apply knowledge of Australian WHS laws, develop safety documentation, support audits, and drive continuous improvement while promoting a positive safety culture on site.

Qualifications

• Diploma in OHS, Environmental Science, Engineering or related discipline.
• Solid knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and best practices.
• Experience in construction, HVAC or mechanical services projects.
• Ability to conduct site inspections, risk assessments and investigations.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Proactive, solutions-focused with autonomous work style.

About The Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a proactive and engaging Health, Safety Environment & Quality Officer to join a well-established organisation operating across the construction and building services industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections, risk assessments and safety audits.


• Support compliance with WHS legislation, industry standards and client requirements.


• Develop and maintain project-specific Health & Safety Management Plans and SWMS.


• Deliver site and subcontractor inductions and participate in toolbox talks.


• Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses, identifying root causes and preventative actions.


• Coordinate safety training and maintain accurate competency and certification records.


• Maintain safety documentation and support internal and external audits.


• Analyse safety performance and assist with HSE reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.


• Support emergency response planning and workplace preparedness.


• Build strong relationships with project teams and actively promote a positive safety culture.

About You

You’ll be a confident and approachable safety professional who understands that strong safety outcomes are built through relationships, education and practical solutions.

You’ll ideally have:

• A Diploma in OHS, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related discipline.


• Knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, regulations and industry best practice.


• Experience or a strong background in construction, HVAC, mechanical services or a similar project-based environment.


• Experience conducting site inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations.


• The ability to develop safety documentation, procedures and management plans.


• Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage employees, subcontractors and senior stakeholders.


• Excellent attention to detail and strong documentation and reporting skills.


• A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to work autonomously.
