Job summary

Department of Defence is seeking a Health Records Officer to manage health information requests and support governance of health data within HIO. The role focuses on data quality, compliance with legislative frameworks, and efficient administration of health records.

Key duties include coordinating the group inbox, advising on health information needs, developing SOPs, and training contracted staff while ensuring policies stay up to date with relevant legislation.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience handling requests under legislative instruments such as the Freedom of Information Act, Privacy Act and Work Health and Safety Act.

Responsibilities

• Health data stewardship including applying legislative frameworks, best practice standards for data collection, storage, use and security; governance of health information systems.
• Assist with group inbox coordination and prompt response to health information requests; provide subject matter advice to members; allocate workload within the team.
• Assist in development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and mentor/train contracted staff on health information requests.
• Ensure policies and processes are updated and followed in accordance with legislative requirements.
