Job summary

Northern Sydney Local Health District is seeking a part-time Health and Security Assistant in Manly, at the Adolescent and Young Adult Hospice. The role involves patrols, reporting hazards, and assisting with security duties inside a hospital environment.

You must hold NSW Security Licence Class 1A, NSW Drivers Licence Class C, and a Senior First Aid certificate. You will work under supervision within a team and participate in ongoing training and emergency response duties.

Qualifications

• Must hold NSW Security Licence Class 1A.
• NSW Drivers Licence Class C.
• Senior First Aid certificate.
• Ability to work in a high-pressure hospital environment.
• Ability to follow directions from team leaders in clinical and administrative roles.

Responsibilities

• Identify and report defects, safety hazards or damage to buildings, grounds and equipment to the appropriate authority.
• Conduct internal and external patrols of the site as required.
• Provide assistance with cash, drug and staff escorts as required.
• Operate security equipment such as CCTV, Intruder and Duress alarms and Access Control systems including Security Identification cards.
• Exercise duties in accordance with Security legislation including apprehension of absconding patients under instruction from Clinical staff.
• Comply with written and verbal instructions, policies, values, and NSW Health Code of Conduct.
• Participate in training as required by NSW Health and maintain current competencies.
• Be a member of the Internal Response Team and respond to emergency codes within the hospital.
• Maintain parking and smoking control and issue infringements as required.

What you’ll be doing

• Identify and report defects, safety hazards or damage to buildings, grounds and equipment and report to the appropriate authority such as Engineering manager, Security Manager or Supervisor.
• Conduct internal and external patrols of the site as required.
• Provide assistance with cash, drug and staff escorts as required.
• Operate security equipment such as CCTV, Intruder and Duress alarms and Access Control systems including Security Identification cards.
• Exercising duties in accordance with Security legislation in regard to providing Security or the apprehension of absconding patients, participating in restraint whilst doing so under instruction from Clinical professionals.
• Comply with authorised written and verbal instructions, policy and procedures, Values and Behavioural Charters and the NSW Health Code of Conduct and other security related duties as directed by the Security Supervisor, Security Manager and Corporate Service Managers.
• Participate in training as required by NSW Health and ensure required competencies are current.
• Be a member of the Internal Response Team and respond to emergency codes within the hospital.
• Maintain parking and smoking control and issue infringements as required.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Must hold current NSW Security Licence Class 1A, NSW Drivers Licence Class 'C' and a valid Senior First Aid certificate.
• Demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills and the ability to work as a member of a team in an often stressful environment with the willingness and ability to follow direction from team leaders in both clinical and administrative roles.
• Demonstrated ability in working in a team environment.
