Job summary

UNSW is seeking a Health & Safety Project Coordinator to support delivery of strategic projects across the H&S function. You will coordinate plans, track deliverables and engage stakeholders to drive improvements in safety and wellbeing across staff and students.

Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, Projects, you will assist across Systems & Data, Risk & Assurance, Safety Operations, Contractor Safety, and Wellbeing, helping teams coordinate initiatives and reports in a dynamic university

Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (or higher).
  • Experience supporting Health & Safety activities, including risk assessments, compliance initiatives, audits, investigations, assurance programs and/or safety management systems.
  • Experience providing project coordination or project support within a complex organisation.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and adapt to changing requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to prepare high-quality reports and documentation.
  • Proven stakeholder engagement skills and ability to build effective working relationships across diverse teams and functions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of Health & Safety projects across multiple workstreams and the H&S Program of Work.
  • Coordinate project plans, schedules, reporting and administrative activities.
  • Monitor project progress, track deliverables, prepare updates, reports and dashboards.
  • Coordinate stakeholder engagement activities, meetings and workshops, including agendas and minutes.
  • Collate and analyse data to support reporting, insights and informed decision-making.
  • Provide administrative, procurement and logistical support across the Health & Safety function.
  • Support project governance, risk and issue management, continuous improvement, and compliance with legislation and university requirements.

Location: Kensington, NSW (Hybrid work arrangement available). This job is based in Australia.

UNSW is embarking on a significant transformation across its Health & Safety (H&S) function, with a focus on strengthening systems, processes, data insights, risk management, compliance, and continuous improvement across the University.

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Health & Safety Project Coordinator to support the delivery of strategic projects and initiatives that enhance health, safety and wellbeing outcomes for our staff, students and wider community.

Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, Projects, you will support the delivery of projects and initiatives across the Health & Safety function, working across key streams including Systems & Data, Risk & Assurance, Safety Operations, Contractor Safety, and Health & Wellbeing. You will play a key role in helping teams coordinate projects, improve processes, track deliverables, engage stakeholders, and support transformational change across a complex and dynamic environment.

As a Health & Safety Project Coordinator, You Will
  • Support the delivery of Health & Safety projects and initiatives across multiple workstreams and the H&S Program of Work.
  • Coordinate project plans, schedules, reporting and administrative activities to support successful project delivery.
  • Monitor project progress, track deliverables, prepare project updates, reports and dashboards.
  • Coordinate stakeholder engagement activities, meetings and workshops, including preparation of agendas and minutes.
  • Collate and analyse data to support reporting, insights and informed decision-making.
  • Provide administrative, procurement and logistical support across the broader Health & Safety function.
  • Support project governance, risk and issue management, continuous improvement initiatives, and compliance with Health & Safety legislation and University requirements.
Who You Are
  • You hold a Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (or higher), or have equivalent experience gained through a combination of education, training and/or relevant work experience.
  • You have experience supporting Health & Safety activities, including areas such as risk assessments, compliance initiatives, audits, investigations, assurance programs and/or safety management systems.
  • You have demonstrated experience providing project coordination or project support within a complex organisation.
  • You are highly organised, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and adapt to changing requirements.
  • You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to prepare high-quality reports, presentations and project documentation.
  • You have proven stakeholder engagement skills and can build effective working relationships across diverse teams and functions.
  • You demonstrate strong administrative and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and deliver effective outcomes.
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.
  • You have an interest in data, reporting and dashboards, including the ability to collate information from multiple sources, identify trends and support informed decision-making.
