Job summary

DT Infrastructure is seeking a proactive WHS Advisor to drive a zero-harm culture and ensure compliance across complex construction phases in Sydney. You will partner with project management, site leadership, and subcontractors to embed safe work practices into delivery.

The role requires a Diploma/Cert IV in WHS, 5+ years' experience in civil construction or related fields, and strong knowledge of SafeWork NSW regulations. White Card and NSW driver’s licence are essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (WHS).
• Minimum of 5+ years' practical WHS experience in civil construction or related infrastructure projects.
• In-depth knowledge of SafeWork NSW regulations and WHS legislation.
• ICAM incident investigation training is highly regarded.
• White Card and NSW driver’s licence are required.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence site culture.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on WHS coaching, guidance, and support to site managers, engineers, and frontline workers.
• Conduct daily site inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits per the Project Safety Management Plan.
• Facilitate site inductions, toolbox talks, and pre-start meetings.
• Review and approve SWMS for high-risk activities like working at heights and heavy plant operations.
• Lead incident investigations, perform root cause analysis, and track corrective actions to closure.
• Maintain safety documentation, incident registers, and weekly reporting metrics.

The Opportunity

Join a landmark infrastructure project shaping the future of Sydney. We are seeking a proactive and experienced Health & Safety (WHS) Advisor to drive a culture of zero-harm and ensure stringent operational compliance across complex construction phases. Working closely with project management, site leadership, and subcontractors, you will be the on-ground safety presence ensuring that safe work practices are integrated into every aspect of the project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on WHS coaching, guidance, and support to site managers, engineers, and frontline workers.
• Conduct comprehensive daily site inspections, risk assessments, and targeted safety audits to ensure adherence to the Project Safety Management Plan and SafeWork NSW legislation.
• Facilitate engaging site inductions, toolbox talks, and daily pre-start meetings.
• Review, assess, and approve Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), particularly for high-risk construction activities (e.g., working at heights, heavy plant operations).
• Lead incident investigations using structured methodologies, conduct root cause analysis, and track corrective actions through to close-out.
• Maintain rigorous safety documentation, incident registers, and weekly reporting metrics to identify trends and implement continuous improvement strategies.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (WHS).
• Minimum of 5+ years' practical WHS experience, with a strong background in civil construction, tunneling, rail, or tier-one infrastructure environments.
• In-depth, working knowledge of current SafeWork NSW regulations, Codes of Practice, and relevant WHS legislation.
• Formal incident investigation training (ICAM highly regarded).
• Valid General Construction Induction Card (White Card) and a current NSW Driver's Licence.
• Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with a proven ability to influence site culture and confidently hold stakeholders accountable at all levels.
