Job summary

ISS Facility Services Australia and New Zealand is seeking an experienced HSE Advisor / HSEQ Lead to promote a strong safety culture at Carrapateena, a remote mining operation in South Australia. You will be a visible on-site safety leader, guiding teams to uphold high HSEQ standards and deliver quality services.

The role requires hands-on risk management, incident investigations and continuous improvement, with a FIFO 8 days on, 6 days off roster from Adelaide.

Qualifications

• Evidence-based safety leadership and field-based guidance.
• Proven experience in WHS/HSE roles within resources, mining, construction or facilities management.
• Strong knowledge of SA WHS and environmental legislation.
• Experience with HSEQ documentation and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Promote and ensure compliance with HSE policies and client obligations.
• Lead implementation and improvement of the HSE Management System and site plans.
• Provide hands-on safety leadership across the site.
• Develop and review risk management documentation including hazard registers and SOPs.
• Manage HSE documentation, reports and client reporting requirements.
• Oversee incident management and investigations, including high-potential incidents.
• Drive corrective and preventative actions and ensure timely close-out.
• Support return-to-work and injury management programs.
• Prepare and deliver weekly and monthly HSE reports and safety metrics.
• Monitor induction, training and competency compliance with LMS.
• Facilitate safety leadership initiatives, toolbox talks and site safety meetings.
• Conduct inspections, audits and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with operations to improve safety, quality and performance.
• Provide practical HSEQ advice to supervisors and frontline staff.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety and KPI outcomes.

We are seeking an experienced HSE Advisor / HSEQ Lead to play a pivotal role in promoting a strong safety culture and driving excellence in Health, Safety, Environment and Quality performance at Carrapateena, a remote mining operation in South Australia.

This is an exciting opportunity for a hands‑on safety professional who enjoys working closely with operational teams in a high-risk mining environment. You will be a visible presence on site, providing practical HSEQ guidance, strengthening safety leadership and supporting teams to safely deliver high-quality services.

This is a Fly-In-Fly-Out (FIFO) role from Adelaide on an 8 days on, 6 days off roster.

About the Role

Reporting to the Key Account Manager, you will be responsible for implementing, maintaining and continuously improving the HSE Management System across the site, while ensuring compliance with statutory, client and organisational requirements.

Working closely with operational leaders, supervisors and frontline teams, you will provide expert HSEQ advice, lead proactive risk management initiatives and support the safe delivery of services in a demanding remote mining environment.

You will be a key safety partner to the operation, helping teams identify hazards, manage risk, investigate incidents and continuously improve the way we work!

Key Responsibilities

• Promote and ensure compliance with ISS and client HSE policies, procedures and statutory obligations
• Lead implementation, auditing and ongoing improvement of the HSE Management System and site-specific HSE Plans
• Provide visible, hands‑on safety leadership across the site
• Develop, maintain and review risk management documentation, including risk profiles, hazard registers, SWPs, SOPs, JHAs, competency standards, assessment tools and training plans
• Manage HSE documentation, registers, reports and client reporting requirements
• Oversee incident management and investigations, including high‑potential incidents
• Drive effective corrective and preventative actions and ensure timely close‑out
• Support return‑to‑work and injury management programs
• Prepare and deliver weekly and monthly HSE reports and safety performance metrics
• Monitor induction, training and competency compliance, including LMS management and reporting
• Facilitate safety leadership initiatives, toolbox talks and site safety meetings
• Conduct workplace inspections, audits and risk assessments
• Work closely with operational teams to identify opportunities to improve safety, quality and operational performance
• Provide practical HSEQ advice and support to supervisors and frontline employees
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety performance, productivity and KPI outcomes
• Promote a positive safety culture where everyone takes ownership of their role in maintaining a safe workplace

About You

You are a proactive safety professional who leads by example and thrives in operational and high‑risk environments.

You are comfortable being visible in the field, engaging with frontline teams and challenging established ways of working when there is an opportunity to improve safety and performance.

You will bring:

• Certificate IV in WHS or higher qualification
• Proven experience in a WHS/HSE role within resources, mining, construction or facilities management
• Strong knowledge of South Australian WHS and environmental legislation
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards
• Lead I-CAM Investigator certification, with experience in serious/high‑potential incident investigations
• Strong reporting, analytical and documentation skills
• Confidence using MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Strong communication and influencing skills
• The ability to build trusted relationships with operational teams, clients and key stakeholders
• A collaborative mindset with the ability to lead and manage change
• A hands‑on approach to safety leadership and continuous improvement

• Unrestricted C Class Driver’s Licence
• Ability to work a FIFO 8 days on, 6 days off roster from Adelaide
• Ability to successfully complete pre‑employment medical and background checks
