Job summary

Coomera Springs Veterinary Surgery on the Gold Coast is seeking an experienced Head Veterinary Nurse to lead our nursing team in a fast-paced, results-driven clinic. You will mentor staff, oversee surgery, hospital, and patient care, drive clinical excellence, and help maintain an exceptional client experience while promoting a supportive, balanced workplace.

Part-time role with rotating Saturday shifts, no Sundays or public holidays, above award remuneration aligned with experience, and access

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing is required.
• Experience in Head Nurse, Team Leader, or Senior Nursing role is essential.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, capable of mentoring staff.

About Us:

Coomera Springs Veterinary Surgery is a well-established veterinary clinic on the northern end of the Gold Coast. We offer a full suite of services and are one of only a few clinics in Southeast QLD to boast a truly diverse client base including but not limited to cats, dogs, guinea pigs, goats, alpacas, birds and reptiles. The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Head Veterinary Nurse to step into a key leadership role within our friendly team on a part-time basis.

In this role, you will lead, mentor, and guide our nursing team, driving a positive and supportive team culture where all nurses can grow and thrive. Working closely with our veterinarians and practice leadership, you will oversee day-to-day nursing workflows across surgery, hospital, reception, and patient care. You will play a central role in maintaining high clinical standards, streamlining clinic organisation, and ensuring an exceptional experience for our clients and patients.

Roster

• Rotating Saturday shifts
• No Sundays
• No public holidays

About You

We are seeking a mature, highly organised leader who is passionate about clinical excellence, patient care, and staff development.

You will have:

• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent).
• Previous experience in a Head Nurse, Team Leader, or Senior Nursing role
• Exceptional organisational ability with a knack for managing daily workflow, task delegation, and fast-paced clinic priorities.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership communication skills, with a mature, calm, and approachable demeanour.
• Extensive hands-on veterinary nursing experience and strong knowledge of clinical procedures (experience assisting with complex surgeries, orthopaedics, or caesareans is highly regarded).
• A supportive coaching mindset dedicated to continuous learning, staff retention, and building a positive workplace culture.
• A positive attitude and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
