Job summary

Broken Hill High School is seeking a Head Teacher Mathematics to lead the Mathematics department and drive explicit teaching strategies across the school. The role focuses on school-wide improvements, staff support, and collaboration with the school community.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong teaching experience, curriculum leadership, and a commitment to Aboriginal education policy, while managing resources and engaging staff, students, and parents.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated educational leadership and capacity to work collaboratively with the executive team and school community to implement whole school explicit teaching initiatives.
• Capacity to lead the Mathematics Key Learning Area and support staff to implement culturally responsive teaching and learning programs that address student growth in literacy and numeracy in the context of a diverse cultural, socio-economic and rural high school.
• Ability to interpret data to lead the development and evaluation of school initiatives to improve the learning outcomes for a diverse range of students.
• Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
• Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.
• Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
• Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
• Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
• Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.

Specific Selection Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

Conditions

A Relocation Support Payment of $5,000 up to $8,000 will be available for eligible applicants.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
