Job summary

Westpac Bank invites a strategic tech leader to become Head of Technology, Wealth in Sydney. You will shape the long-term technology vision for the Wealth portfolio, translating business outcomes into a cohesive technology strategy and leading architecture, engineering and transformation initiatives.

You will partner with the CIO, CEO, and other senior stakeholders to prioritise investments, drive modernization, and accelerate growth while delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Qualifications

• Experience leading technology teams in regulated environments, with strong Wealth Management exposure.
• Ability to translate business outcomes into a long-term technology vision.
• Executive presence to influence boards and governance forums.

What's the role?

This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of Westpac’s Wealth business through technology.

As Head of Technology, Wealth, you'll be the senior technology leader responsible for setting the strategic direction for technology across Wealth. Reporting into the CIO, Business & Wealth, you'll partner with executive business leaders, including CEO, BT Financial Group, to translate ambitious business outcomes into a long term technology vision that accelerates growth, strengthens customer value and positions Wealth for the future.

Based in Sydney, Gadigal Country, you'll lead technology strategy, architecture, engineering and transformation across the Wealth portfolio while influencing investment priorities, modernisation initiatives and technology decisions that have lasting impact across the organisation.

This role requires a leader who can confidently operate at Executive and Board level, balancing strategic vision with disciplined execution. You'll champion modern engineering practices, foster a culture of innovation and accountability, and build the technology foundations that enable Wealth to move faster, operate smarter and deliver exceptional customer experiences.

What do I need?

• Experience leading high-performing technology teams within complex regulated environments, with a very strong preference for Wealth Management experience
• Proven ability to develop and execute technology strategies that align technology investment with long term business outcomes.
• Executive presence and the ability to influence, challenge and partner with senior executives, boards members, governance forums and strategic stakeholders.
• Experience leading large scale technology transformation, modernisation and simplification initiatives within complex environments.
• A strong track record building high performing engineering organisations/businesses and championing modern engineering practices, automation, platform thinking and technology excellence.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance investment, risk, customer outcomes and long-term strategic value.
