Job summary

Absolute Immigration Group is seeking a hands-on Head of Technology in Melbourne to own and integrate our systems end to end. You will design and build the tech landscape, automate workflows in Microsoft 365, and manage vendors with a focus on security and governance.

You will report to the CEO and collaborate across sales, marketing and delivery teams to execute a clear technology strategy. You’ll lead the build of integrations, data retention, and become the gatekeeper for new tools, while

• Simplify and consolidate software so each part of the business has one clear home.
• Design, build and maintain integrations so data flows where it’s needed.
• Build workflow automation in Microsoft 365, mainly SharePoint and Power Automate.
• Look after data security, access and record retention in a regulated industry.
• Manage technology vendors and IT support partners, keeping licences and spend in check.
• Gatekeeper for new tools and maintain IT policies.
• Lead practical uses of AI in the business.

About The Role

This is a hands-on role. You will own every system AIG runs and how they fit together, and you will do much of the building yourself: configuring systems, connecting them and automating the work our teams do every day.

You will work directly with the CEO and the leadership team, and closely with our sales, marketing and delivery teams. A clear technology strategy is already in place. Your job is to own it and deliver it.

What you'll do:

• Own AIG's systems end to end, including the system map and how tools connect.
• Simplify and consolidate our software so each part of the business has one clear home.
• Design, build and maintain integrations so data is entered once and flows where it’s needed.
• Build workflow automation in Microsoft 365, mainly SharePoint and Power Automate.
• Look after data security, access and record retention in a regulated, compliance-heavy industry.
• Manage our technology vendors and IT support partner, and keep licences and spend in check.
• Act as the gatekeeper for new tools, and write and maintain our IT policies.
• Once the foundations are solid, lead our first practical uses of AI in the business.

About You

You're an experienced, proactive and solutions-focused technology professional who combines strategic thinking with strong hands‑on technical expertise. You enjoy taking ownership, solving complex problems and finding smarter, more efficient ways for technology to support people and business operations.

You understand that successful technology transformation is about more than implementing new systems. You can assess existing processes, identify opportunities for improvement, build and integrate practical solutions, and drive automation that delivers measurable results. You're equally comfortable working independently on technical projects as you are collaborating with stakeholders, translating complex concepts into clear, practical solutions and bringing people along on the journey.

You’ll bring:

• At least 5 years in a hands-on technology role such as systems lead, IT manager or solutions architect, ideally in a small or mid-sized business.
• Strong Microsoft 365 administration, especially SharePoint, Entra ID and Power Automate.
• Proven experience connecting SaaS tools through APIs, webhooks and integration platforms.
• Experience leading a data or document migration.
• Experience setting up and running a CRM, such as HubSpot, Pipedrive or Salesforce.
• A good grasp of security basics: MFA, access control, data retention and privacy.
• The ability to explain technical choices in plain language to people who aren’t technical.
• Confidence managing vendors and holding them to account.
• Experience in professional services, especially legal, migration or another regulated industry.
• Experience with AWS or Azure.
• Reporting with Power BI or similar.
• Knowledge of the Privacy Act and Australian data residency requirements.
• Practical experience building or rolling out AI tools in a business.
