Job summary

Talent Web Recruitment is seeking a hands-on Head of Software QA in Sydney for a permanent, hybrid role. You will lead a distributed QA team of about 7 engineers, own the end-to-end QA strategy, and drive automation across the SaaS platform and client implementations.

This role requires strong technical leadership, API testing expertise and excellent stakeholder engagement. You will collaborate closely with Engineering, Product and senior leadership to shape QA improvements, oversee automation

Qualifications

• Proven QA leadership experience within SaaS/fintech/financial services environments.
• Hands-on automation development using modern tools (Playwright/Cypress/Selenium).
• Solid API testing and integration testing experience.
• Experience implementing QA improvements and automation adoption.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Delivery-focused leadership; comfortable with hands-on work when needed.

We're partnering with a growing financial technology business looking for a hands-on Head of Software QA to lead its testing function, drive automation and improve software quality across its SaaS platform and client
implementations.

This is a role for someone who can combine technical expertise, people leadership and strong stakeholder engagement.

You'll be equally comfortable setting QA strategy, writing automation, troubleshooting complex issues and working directly with engineering teams and clients.

What you'll be doing

• Lead and mentor a distributed team of approximately 7 QA engineers.
• Own end-to-end QA strategy, test planning, automation and release quality.
• Personally contribute to automation development, API testing, defect investigation and technical troubleshooting.
• Drive the transition from manual testing towards scalable automated testing practices.
• Partner closely with Engineering, Product and senior leadership to influence improvements and resolve delivery challenges.
• Engage directly with clients on implementation testing, technical issues and release readiness.

What we're looking for

• Proven QA leadership experience within SaaS, fintech, financial services or complex software environments.
• Strong hands-on automation experience using tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium or similar.
• Solid technical understanding of APIs, integrations, CI/CD pipelines and software development practices.
• Demonstrated experience implementing QA improvements and driving automation adoption.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
• A proactive, delivery-focused leader comfortable remaining hands-on while managing a team.
