Job summary

Chatswood High School on Sydney's north shore seeks an experienced Head Teacher Science to lead and manage the Science faculty with a focus on improving student outcomes across Year 7–12.

The role involves strengthening university connections, coordinating science extracurricular activities and HSC workshops, and driving HPGE initiatives while supporting the whole‑school literacy priority.

Qualifications

• Successful teaching experience and capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
• Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare to lead inclusive teaching and learning programs.
• Educational leadership skills to build capacity and manage performance of individuals and teams.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage students, staff and parents.
• Ability to plan and manage resources to support teaching and learning.
• Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.

Responsibilities

• Strengthen university connections and coordinate Science activities.
• Coordinate Science extra-curricular activities and organise HSC workshops.
• Lead HPGE initiatives within Science and support literacy priority across the school.
• Collaborate with the current Head Teacher Science to lead and manage the faculty.
• Oversee administrative, operational and staffing matters within the faculty.
