Job summary

Loreto Normanhurst is seeking a committed person of faith to lead formation across the School community. This permanent full-time role shapes meaningful experiences that deepen engagement with the Catholic faith, Ignatian spirituality and the Loreto charism, helping students, staff, parents and alumnae understand, live and carry forward the Loreto mission.

• Must hold a valid Working with Children Check.
• A qualified secondary teacher with a current NESA accreditation.
• A committed person of faith who can give authentic witness to the Gospel and contribute positively to the Catholic and Loreto life of the School.
• Demonstrated understanding of the Gospel vision, Ignatian spirituality and the Loreto charism.
• Demonstrated understanding of formation as a lifelong journey of personal, spiritual and professional growth, with the ability to accompany and support students, staff, parents and alumnae.
• Experience in planning, coordinating, facilitating and evaluating meaningful formation experiences, retreats, reflection opportunities and professional learning.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and inspire a diverse range of audiences.
• Strong organisational and digital skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, coordinate multiple events and programs, administer budgets and meet deadlines with professionalism and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Lead the School’s Formation Framework, designing, implementing and evaluating a coherent continuum of formation for students and staff grounded in the Gospel, Ignatian spirituality, the Loreto charism and the educational vision of Mary Ward.
• Design and facilitate engaging formation experiences, retreats, reflection opportunities and professional learning for students, staff, parents and alumnae, fostering dialogue, discernment, spiritual growth and a strong sense of belonging.
• Develop staff capacity to understand, articulate and promote the distinctive Catholic identity, mission and tradition of Loreto education, working collaboratively across teaching, learning and the broader School experience.
• Coordinate formation associated with significant Loreto traditions and celebrations, lead the daily prayer life of the School, and develop resources that bring the Loreto story and the legacy of Mary Ward to life.
• Lead the design and delivery of student retreats, including the Senior Retreat and Kairos Retreats, and coordinate key formation initiatives including the Annual Staff Spirituality Day and Ignatian Interschools Forum.

An exciting new opportunity exists for a committed person of faith to lead formation across the School community. This significant role will shape meaningful experiences that deepen engagement with the Catholic faith, Ignatian spirituality and the Loreto charism, helping students, staff, parents and alumnae understand, live and carry forward the Loreto mission.

The role is permanent full time and will commence in Term 4, 2026 or to be mutually agreed.

The Role
