Job summary

Perigon Group is seeking a Head of Finance in Melbourne to partner with the CEO and Board, blending commercial finance, strategic advice and hands‑on delivery. You’ll lead a local finance team with support from outsourced accounting partners, and act as a trusted advisor across the business.

This role requires CA/CPA qualification, strong modelling skills and international accounting experience. You’ll drive cash, budgeting, reporting, and capital planning as the company scales globally, with

• CA or CPA qualified with strong commercial and strategic finance background.
• Experience in start-up or scale-up environments; able to adapt.
• Strong financial modelling skills and understanding of revenue drivers.
• Experience reporting to a Board and investors; investor relations valued.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the CEO and leadership team on commercial decisions with insight into revenue, cost, and profitability.
• Build and own financial models to support growth and long-term planning.
• Prepare and present Board and investor reporting.
• Oversee month-end, consolidation and statutory reporting across entities.
• Manage cash flow, budgeting and forecasting to support growth.
• Lead, mentor and develop a finance team.
• Assist with Company Secretary duties and contract reviews.
• Help prepare for future capital investment or strategic opportunities.

About The Role

Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the Board, the Head of Finance is a genuine partnering role. You’ll be the CEO’s trusted sounding board, with the numbers to back every conversation. This is a varied role that blends commercial finance, strategic advice and hands‑on delivery. You’ll lead a finance team locally supported by outsourced accounting partners.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the CEO and leadership team on commercial decisions, giving clear insight into the drivers of revenue, cost and profitability
• Build and own financial models that support business decisions, growth initiatives and long‑term planning
• Prepare and present Board and investor reporting, building strong relationships with directors and investors
• Oversee month‑end, consolidation and statutory reporting across multiple international entities, working with outsourced providers
• Manage cash flow, budgeting and forecasting to support sustainable growth
• Lead, mentor and develop a small finance team
• Act as Company Secretary, and support legal and contract review and negotiation
• Help the business prepare for future capital investment or other strategic opportunities

Skills & Experience

• CA or CPA qualified, with a strong commercial and strategic finance background
• Experience in start‑up or scale‑up environments; comfortable working in the grey and adapting to change
• Strong financial modelling skills and a clear understanding of revenue and cost drivers
• Experience reporting to a Board and investors; investor relations experience is highly regarded
• Working knowledge of international accounting and tax requirements across multiple jurisdictions
• Someone who builds trust through transparency, candour and numbers that are always right
• SaaS or tech experience is a plus but not essential
