Job summary

Access Canberra is seeking an accomplished and strategic leader to join the Environment and Specialised Regulation Branch as Senior Director, Environment Regulation. This role leads regulatory functions across environmental protection, water resources, lakes, waste, cemeteries, and conservation.

You will guide a multidisciplinary team, ensure compliance with legislation, provide high-level strategic advice to EPA, and build partnerships across government and industry to protect Canberra's

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading complex regulatory, compliance, investigation, or enforcement functions in government or statutory settings.
• Experience supporting or operating within a statutory authority or as a statutory decision-maker is highly desirable.
• This position does not require a Working with Vulnerable People Check.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight of environmental regulatory functions including protection, water resources, lakes, waste, cemeteries, and conservation.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for authorisations, compliance, investigations, enforcement, and stakeholder engagement.
• Deliver regulatory activities in line with Environment Protection Act 1997 and other legislation.
• Collaborate across government, industry, community organisations, and interstate jurisdictions.
• Represent ACT Government and EPA in stakeholder, community, and media engagements.
