Job summary

MILSPEC Energy Solutions Pty Ltd in Brisbane is seeking a commercially focused General Manager – Design & Engineering to guide the development and delivery of the company’s engineering capability. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered Professional Engineer status advantageous.
• RPEQ registration or eligibility.
• Significant experience in high-voltage transmission, distribution or substations.
• Experience leading engineering teams and managing design across complex projects.
• Strong commercial acumen including budgeting and resource management.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership across MILSPEC's Design and Engineering function over transmission, distribution, substations and electrical infrastructure projects.
• Develop and implement engineering strategies, systems, processes and capabilities to support business growth.
• Lead and manage engineering and design personnel, consultants and external design partners.
• Oversee design activities from concept and tender development through to detailed design and construction support.
• Ensure engineering deliverables meet contractual requirements and relevant standards and client specifications.
• Provide technical direction and oversight across multiple concurrent projects.
• Establish design management, review, verification and approval processes.
• Manage engineering resources, budgets, programs and departmental performance.
• Identify opportunities to improve design efficiency, constructability and commercial outcomes.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and construction teams to integrate design with delivery.
• Provide technical input into tenders, methodologies and commercial proposals.
• Support business development activities and client engagement.
