Job summary

Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort & Sunshine Coast Convention Centre is seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead the main kitchen, overseeing food production and service while collaborating with the broader Food & Beverage team. The role covers Sola Restaurant & Bar, room service, banquets and major events, with a hands-on leadership approach.

You will guide the culinary team, drive menu development, and ensure high standards of quality, presentation and guest experience across all services.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Head Chef, Sous Chef or senior kitchen leader.
• Relevant culinary qualifications and strong technical skills.
• Experience in hotel, resort, events or high-volume kitchen environment.
• Strong leadership skills with a passion for developing people.
• Excellent knowledge of food safety, HACCP and WHS requirements.
• Commercial awareness with experience managing food costs and kitchen resources.

Responsibilities

• Lead the main kitchen operation across preparation, production and service.
• Oversee food quality, presentation and consistency across all services.
• Lead, coach and develop the culinary team and foster a positive kitchen culture.
• Work closely with the Executive Chef and F&B leadership team.
• Support the delivery of conferences, weddings, functions and large-scale events.
• Contribute to menu development and bring creativity to the guest experience.
• Manage food costs, ordering, stock control and kitchen resources.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, HACCP, WHS and Accor standards.
• Collaborate across the resort to support a seamless and consistent culinary experience.
