Job summary

Frontline Recruitment in Sydney is seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead kitchen operations and shape the culinary vision of a popular gastro-pub. This permanent role offers AUD$100,000 to AUD$110,000 annually, with scope to drive menus, set standards and build a high-performing team.

You will recruit, train and mentor staff, implement robust cost controls, and oversee events for large numbers while maintaining rigorous food safety and quality.

You'll have the opportunity to shape menus with creativity, build systems that deliver consistent results, and develop a kitchen team that thrives on accountability and growth.

Preferred Requirements

• Proven experience as a Head Chef or Sous Chef in a busy hospitality environment
• Strong understanding of back-of-house financials and cost control
• Demonstrated ability to plan and execute large-scale events for multiple covers
• Leadership experience with a track record of recruiting, mentoring, and developing kitchen staff
• Meticulous attention to detail across food preparation, presentation, and kitchen operations

Preferred Qualifications

• Formal culinary qualification or equivalent hands-on experience in professional kitchens
• Food Safety Supervisor certification or equivalent food hygiene qualification
• Experience managing kitchen teams in high-volume or event-driven hospitality settings
