Job summary

Cochrane's Transport in Gillman is seeking a reliable Tug Operator to join the Morning Shift. The role involves safely moving trailers, operating a tug and forklift, and some HC/MC driving duties in a fast-paced depot.

You will need HC/MC license and forklift license, with experience handling B-doubles or triples, and a strong commitment to safety, accuracy, and teamwork. The position offers 38 hours weekly, 6:00am–2:00pm, Monday to Friday.

• Experience operating yard tractors or similar heavy vehicles.

• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Good literacy and comprehension skills.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
• The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate a tug to safely manoeuvre and pull a range of trailer combinations in the depot, including B-doubles and triples.
• Operate a forklift to load and unload trucks and trailers.
• Undertake HC/MC driving duties as required.
• Maintain safety around heavy vehicles, trailers and equipment.
• Support a fast-paced transport/logistics yard environment.

About the position:

We are seeking a reliable, safety-focused and experienced Tug Operator to join our Morning Shift team at our Gillman Depot.

This is a hands-on role responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers throughout our transport yard. The position will involve operating a tug to safely manoeuvre and pull a range of trailer combinations, including B-doubles and triples, as well as operating a forklift to load and unload trucks and trailers and where required, undertaking HC/MC driving duties.

The successful candidate will have experience operating heavy vehicles and forklifts in a fast-paced transport or logistics environment and be confident working safely around heavy vehicles, trailers and other equipment.

This is a permanent full-time position, working 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 6:00am to 2:00pm.
