Job summary

Mercure Perth on Hay is seeking a motivated and reliable part-time handyperson to join our maintenance team, working 2–3 days a week to keep the property in top condition. You will perform basic maintenance across plumbing, painting, HVAC and general hotel upkeep, respond to guest and staff requests, and assist with event setup.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining hotel facilities or fixed plant/equipment.
• Knowledge of preventive, predictive and reactive maintenance.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated, punctual and reliable.
• Ability to work weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic maintenance and repairs across hotel facilities (plumbing, painting, HVAC, general upkeep).
• Ensure guest rooms, public areas and service areas are in good working order.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and staff.
• Conduct regular inspections of equipment and systems to identify issues.
• Maintain inventory of tools and materials; request replacements as needed.
• Assist with setup and breakdown for events or room configurations.
• Follow safety protocols and local codes.
• Communicate effectively with hotel staff on urgent maintenance.

Job Description

• Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and materials, and request replacements as necessary.
• Assist with setup and breakdown for special events or room configurations.
• Follow all safety protocols and ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations.
• Communicate effectively with hotel staff to address urgent maintenance concerns.

Qualifications

Your Skills and experience include:

• Previous experience working on the maintenance of hotels, fixed plant or equipment systems.
• Knowledge of preventive, predictive and reactive maintenance strategies.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Self motivated person who takes a proactive approach to work and is punctual and reliable.
• Ability to accommodate flexibility with shifts including weekends as required.
