Job summary

W Brisbane is looking for a Full Time Handyperson to support the Engineering team at 81 North Quay, Brisbane. You will help maintain luxury facilities and guest rooms to the highest standards, responding to maintenance requests and carrying out preventative tasks across various hotel areas.

You will perform painting, plumbing and electrical tasks, install guest technologies, and ensure safety and seamless operations in collaboration with contractors and hotel departments.

Qualifications

• Experience in general maintenance, including painting, plumbing and carpentry.
• Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting and preventative maintenance skills.
• Customer-focused with strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
• WHS knowledge and commitment to luxury hotel standards.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests and uphold service standards.
• Carry out preventative maintenance on guestrooms, kitchens, plant rooms and equipment.
• Inspect equipment to identify maintenance needs and ensure reliability.
• Communicate clearly between shifts and document completed works.
• Perform general maintenance tasks incl. painting and replacing filters.
• Handle basic plumbing maintenance and resolve guestroom issues.
• Install and troubleshoot in-room entertainment systems and guest tech.
• Follow Workplace Health & Safety procedures and collaborate with teams.

W Brisbane located at 81 N Quay, Brisbane City QLD 4000 is hiring a Full Time Handyperson to join our Engineering team. As a Handyperson at W Brisbane, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional guest experiences by maintaining our world-class facilities and guest rooms to the highest standard. Responsibilities include:

• Respond promptly and professionally to guest maintenance requests, ensuring exceptional service standards and guest satisfaction are consistently achieved.
• Carry out preventative maintenance programs across hotel facilities, including guestrooms , kitchens, plant rooms, mechanical systems, and operational equipment.
• Conduct routine inspections of equipment, plant, and machinery to identify maintenance requirements and support operational reliability.
• Maintain clear and accurate communication between shifts, documenting completed works, outstanding tasks, and operational issues in accordance with hotel standards.
• Perform a range of general maintenance tasks including surface preparation, painting, replacement of lighting and air-conditioning filters.
• Undertake basic plumbing maintenance, including clearing blocked drains, repairing leaks, and resolving guestroom plumbing issues.
• Install, program, and troubleshoot in-room entertainment systems, televisions, and guest technology to maintain a seamless guest experience.
• Adhere to all Workplace Health & Safety procedures.
• Work collaboratively with the Engineering team, contractors, and hotel departments to ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and to W Hotel luxury standards.

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Demonstrated experience in general maintenance, including painting, plumbing, carpentry,
• Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance capabilities.
• Customer-focused approach with exceptional communication and problem-solving skills.
• Sound knowledge of WHS requirements and commitment to maintaining luxury hotel standards through quality workmanship and attention to detail.
• Trade qualification in a relevant discipline preferred, but not essential for candidates with extensive maintenance experience.
