Job summary

Lake Macquarie City Council’s Workshop team is seeking a Trades Assistant for a hands-on, practical role in keeping fleet, plant and equipment safe and efficient. You’ll work across servicing, fabrication, parts handling and shop logistics to support skilled tradespeople.

The role offers 35 hours over a 4-day week, a collaborative team environment, and a strong focus on safety and customer service. Join us to contribute to community services and infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Current experience assisting in an automotive or mechanical engineering workshop.
• Demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service.
• Confined Spaces Entry training, or willingness to undertake the training.
• Current Class C driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Assist tradespeople with servicing and repairs.
• Support fabrication and installation activities.
• Clean and prepare equipment and materials.
• Provide materials handling and support within tyre bay and tool store functions.
• Operate vehicles and plant, and support workshop logistics.
