Job summary

MTAA in New South Wales is seeking an Apprentice Motor Mechanic to join our workshop team as a full-time apprenticeship. You will learn through hands-on servicing, diagnostics, and workshop operations while under supervision of a Workshop Manager and a qualified automotive technician.

The program emphasizes modern vehicle technology, OBD-II diagnostics, and safe handling of automotive fluids in a structured block-release training environment.

Qualifications

• Year 10 completion with passes in English and Mathematics.
• Manual Driver’s Licence preferred to move client vehicles.
• Keen interest in modern vehicle technology, electronics, and mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Basic Servicing: oil changes, fluid flushes, filter replacements, and spark plug installations on passenger vehicles.
• Underbody Inspections: assist with brake pad replacements, suspension checks, steering alignments, and exhaust systems.
• Tyre Care: wheel balancing, tyre fitting, puncture repairs, and laser wheel alignments.
• Modern Diagnostics: learn to use OBD-II scan tools to read fault codes and troubleshoot electrical and engine management systems.
• Workshop Upkeep: maintain clean service bays, organise specialist tools, and safely handle hazardous waste like oils and batteries.
• AFE Study: attend structured block-release training sessions and maintain an up-to-date logbook.
