Job summary

Astoria Bar Ké Grill in Melbourne is seeking a hands-on Assistant Restaurant Manager to help run the day-to-day operations, lead a small team, and ensure welcoming, efficient service during our peak summer period.

You will oversee opening/closing, reservations, wine list management, guest wine recommendations, and coordination with kitchen and FOH to keep service smooth, while upholding health and safety and high standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in restaurant hospitality, ideally in a supervisory role.
• Organised, approachable and confident supporting a small team.
• Genuine interest in wine; WSET Level 3 is a plus.
• Calm, practical and guest-focused during busy service.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations including opening/closing, reservations and service.
• Motivate and guide the team during busy shifts.
• Manage the wine list: stock checks, ordering and updating listings.
• Assist guests with wine selections and enhance staff wine knowledge.
• Maintain high standards of guest service, cleanliness and health & safety.
• Coordinate with kitchen and front-of-house to ensure smooth service.
