Job summary

Southern Cross Care (NSW & ACT) is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Officer for our Campbell facility. You will own the upkeep of the aged care environment, coordinate repairs, and implement a preventive maintenance schedule to keep systems safe and reliable.

You’ll use your trade qualifications and practical experience to inspect facilities, manage contractors, and maintain records. A current driver's license and comfort with portable devices are essential to support our residents and teams.

Qualifications

• A relevant trade qualification.
• Previous experience in a similar role.
• Experience delivering complex repairs and small maintenance projects.
• Experience coordinating contractor(s).
• Property management / construction experience.
• Understanding of the BCA, NCC and Australian Standards.
• Current driver’s license.
• Ability to use portable devices at an intermediate level.
• Sensitivity to the needs of the elderly in residential care.
• Experience with CMMS or CAFM is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify maintenance needs, including plumbing, electrical, and general building upkeep.
• Perform or coordinate repairs and routine maintenance tasks to ensure all equipment and systems function efficiently and safely.
• Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule to minimize breakdowns and extend the life of facility systems and equipment.
• Conduct regular checks and maintenance on critical systems, including fire alarms, emergency lighting, and safety equipment.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, including infection control protocols specific to aged care.
• Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialised repairs and maintenance services.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including work orders, repair logs, and service reports.
