Job summary

Management and Training Corporation in Brisbane is seeking a dedicated Fitness and Recreation Facilitator to support detainees' wellbeing by delivering safe, inclusive fitness and recreational programs at the Brisbane Immigration Detention Centre. Working with the Programs & Activities team, you'll record attendance, adapt activities for diverse backgrounds, and respond to emergencies.

Requires Certificate III/IV in Fitness and AUSactive membership.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Fitness (mandatory).
• Current AUSactive membership (mandatory).
• Experience with diverse or vulnerable populations (desirable).
• Ability to obtain clearances (AFP, WWCC, First Aid & CPR).

About The Role

Based at the Brisbane Immigration Detention Centre you’ll facilitate fitness and recreational activities that support the physical and emotional wellbeing of detainees. Working within the Programs & Activities team, you’ll deliver safe, inclusive, and culturally aware programs that enhance social connection and promote healthy routines.

This role operates on a 12-hour shift schedule across a 7-day roster. You will work a total of 7 shifts per fortnight.

Key responsibilities include:

• Facilitate recreational and fitness-based programs

• Promote inclusion, motivation, and positive engagement among detainees

• Accurately record detainee attendance and maintain program data

• Provide feedback to help shape and improve program delivery

• Support detainees in building self-management, life skills and resilience

• Consider social, cultural and religious diversity in program design and delivery

• Certificate III or IV in Fitness or a related qualification (mandatory)

• Current Member of AUSactive or equivalent (mandatory)

• Experience working with diverse or vulnerable populations (desirable)

• Ability to gain and retain all relevant clearances (incl. AFP, WWCC, First Aid & CPR)
