Job summary

Green Island Resort in Cairns, Queensland, seeks an experienced Guest Services and Accommodation Manager to lead Reception, Housekeeping and Porters, ensuring exceptional guest experiences and operational efficiency across all accommodation operations.

You will report to the Resort General Manager and coach a diverse team, overseeing budgets, service quality, and safety on an island setting with paid EMT training and rotating on-call duties.

Full Time (with requirement to stay on the island up to two nights per week)

Salary $93,783 per annum, plus:

• Free daily return travel to the island from the Cairns pier
• All meals prepared and provided by our hospitality team

Green Island Resort, located just 27km offshore from Cairns, is seeking an experienced Guest Services and Accommodation Manager to lead our Guest Services team (encompassing reception, housekeeping and porters).

About the Role

Reporting to the Resort General Manager, you will lead the Guest Services team overseeing Reception, Housekeeping and Porters to deliver exceptional guest experiences, operational efficiency and service excellence across all accommodation operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a diverse team.
• Oversee daily accommodation operations, ensuring efficient service delivery and resource utilisation.
• Monitor departmental budgets, costs and financial performance.
• Drive service quality initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
• Respond to and assist with incidents and emergencies, ensuring guest welfare and continuity of resort operations.
• As part of our island-based operations, the successful candidate will complete paid Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training and participate in a rotating on-call roster. This will involve staying on the island for approximately two nights per week and providing after-hours support as required, including guest welfare, emergency response and other operational needs.

Key Personal Attributes

Proven leadership experience managing frontline guest service and accommodation teams.

A proactive and hands-on leadership style.

Willingness to undertake employer-funded Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training.

Ability to participate in a rotating on-call roster, including approximately two nights per week staying on the island, responding to after-hours emergencies and operational matters if required.

Comfortable remaining calm under pressure and making sound decisions in emergency situations.

Current First Aid and CPR qualifications are highly regarded, although training can be provided for the right candidate.
