Job summary

Green Island Resort on Green Island (off Cairns, Queensland) is hiring a hands-on Carpenter/Skilled Labourer to maintain and improve our resort buildings and guest spaces. You will perform maintenance, repairs, and planned refurbishments across guest accommodation, public areas and staff facilities while helping ensure top quality workmanship and guest satisfaction.

The role requires staying on the island up to two nights per week and working closely with the Engineering team.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Carpentry is desirable.
• White Card is required to work on site.
• Current driver’s licence is required.
• Forklift licence is desirable for certain tasks.
• First Aid qualification or willingness to obtain it is required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general carpentry, maintenance and repair work in guest accommodation, public areas, staff facilities, offices and operational areas.
• Complete planned preventative maintenance and inspect buildings for damage and deterioration.
• Take ownership of allocated carpentry works from planning through to completion and clean-up.
• Contribute to refurbishments, renovations and improvement works while maintaining high workmanship.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and minimise disruption to guests and resort operations.
• Work with the Engineering team including on-call arrangements and island barge operations as required.

Join our Engineering Team and help maintain and improve one of Queensland's most unique resort environments!

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Carpenter|Skilled Labourer to join our Engineering team. This is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining, repairing and improving the resort's buildings, guest accommodation, public areas, staff facilities and operational spaces. Alongside day-to-day maintenance, you will contribute to planned refurbishments and improvement works across the resort.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out general carpentry, maintenance and repair work throughout guest accommodation, public areas, staff facilities, offices and operational areas.
• Complete planned preventative maintenance and inspect buildings and structures for damage, deterioration and emerging maintenance needs.
• Take ownership of allocated carpentry related works from planning and material preparation through to completion, final presentation and clean-up.
• Contribute to resort refurbishments, renovations and improvement works while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and complete work efficiently while minimising disruption to guests and resort operations.
• Work as part of the broader Engineering team, including participation in emergency maintenance, on-call arrangements and island barge operations as required.

What We're Looking For: the ideal candidate will have:

• A Certificate III in Carpentry (desirable)
• A White Card
• A current driver's licence
• A forklift licence (desirable)
• First Aid qualification (or willing to obtain)
• Be comfortable working independently
• Have the ability to stay overnight at the Island up to two nights per week
