Job summary

Mater Health Services in Newstead, Queensland, seeks a permanent full-time Financial Accountant – Group Reporting and Tax to join the Mater Group Finance team. You will deliver accurate group financial reporting, consolidate accounts, and coordinate audits and tax obligations across the Mater Group.

This role offers exposure to large, complex financial processes within a not-for-profit healthcare setting, liaising with external auditors, tax advisers, and business stakeholders.

Qualifications

• CA or CPA designation required or equivalent professional qualification.
• Minimum three years' experience in a similar group finance role.
• Experience with group consolidation, annual financial statements and coordinating external audits.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly group consolidations and intercompany reconciliations.
• Coordinate Group Annual Financial Statements and note disclosures, audit workpapers and variance analysis.
• Coordinate interim and year-end external audits with timelines and stakeholders.
• Prepare technical accounting position papers under Australian Accounting Standards (AASB).
• Draft Audit Committee papers on financial reporting and external audit matters.
• Prepare BAS and GST returns and balance sheet reconciliations in D365.
• Coordinate FBT calculations and tax return preparations with external advisers.
• Prepare and lodge WorkCover returns and related premium payments.
• Prepare and lodge tax returns for Mater Medical Centre and Mater Foundation entities.
• Post general ledger journals and complete balance sheet reconciliations.
