Job summary

Wickhams Group is seeking a technically strong Group Accountant to join our growing finance team across transport and agriculture sectors in Warwick and Killarney, QLD. You will lead month-end, improve reporting accuracy, and drive process improvements.

Reporting to the GM Finance, you will oversee balance sheet reconciliations, fixed assets, project and hire-purchase accounting, and coordinate statutory and tax work papers while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• CPA/CA/IPA or equivalent qualification completed or substantially completed.
• Strong experience in financial accounting, month-end reporting, and reconciliations.
• Experience with multi-entity reporting and statutory reporting is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate Group month-end close and financial control activities.
• Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, journals, accruals, and intercompany accounts.
• Manage fixed assets, capital projects, inventory/WIP, and hire-purchase accounting.
• Prepare and review BAS, Fuel Tax Credits, payroll tax, Work Cover, and year-end workpapers.
• Assist with budgets, forecasts, cash flow reporting, and Board reporting.
• Develop and support Finance team members.

Group Accountant | Pathway to Financial Controller:

Are you a technically strong accountant looking to take the next step in your career? Join our growing Group and play a key role in driving financial control, reporting accuracy, and continuous improvement while developing toward a future Financial Controller position.
Reporting to the GM Finance, you will lead month-end processes, oversee reconciliations, fixed assets, project and hire-purchase accounting, and coordinate statutory and tax reporting across the Group. You will also support and mentor Finance team members while helping strengthen systems, processes, and controls.

About you:

• CPA, CA, IPA or equivalent qualification completed or substantially completed
• Proven experience in financial accounting, month-end reporting, and reconciliations
• Strong multi-entity financial accounting, month-end, reconciliation and statutory reporting experience
• Strong Excel and ERP capability; Pronto experience highly advantageous.
• Experience in transport, logistics, manufacturing or another asset-intensive environment advantageous
• Demonstrated leadership potential and ability to manage deadlines and complex financial information
