Job summary

Service Stream Limited invites applications for Grounds Maintenance Operators to join the team at Robertson Barracks, NT. These permanent full-time roles support the PAS contract, performing a range of manual and machinery-assisted tasks in outdoor environments and assisting tradespeople and site teams.

Ideal candidates will operate landscaping equipment safely, lift and dig as needed, and follow OH&S procedures on site.

Qualifications

• Ability to safely operate mowers, blowers, compactors and other landscaping equipment.
• Capable of lifting, digging, bending and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Familiarity with OH&S procedures and PPE usage.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and clear land for construction, agriculture, or infrastructure projects.
• Operate plant and construction machinery safely and efficiently.
• Load, transport and handle materials and equipment.
• Perform manual tasks including digging, lifting and trenching.
• Support tradespeople and crews with site tasks.
• Conduct equipment checks and report faults or hazards.
• Identify utility lines and manage soil conditions.
• Set up and clean work areas to maintain site safety.

We are hiring multiple Grounds Maintenance Operators to support this contract. These are permanent full-time positions based at Robertson Barracks.

About the role

You will be responsible for performing a wide range of manual and machinery-assisted tasks in physically demanding outdoor environments. This role supports the efficient and safe execution of construction, agricultural, and infrastructure projects by operating plant equipment, performing general labouring duties, and assisting tradespeople and site teams. We also have positions available that are focused on land management duties such as weeding, spraying and mowing.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and clearing land for construction, agriculture, or infrastructure projects.
• Operating plant and construction machinery safely and efficiently.
• Loading, transporting, and handling materials and equipment.
• Performing manual labour including digging, lifting, and trenching.
• Supporting tradespeople and crews with general site tasks.
• Conducting equipment checks and report faults or hazards.
• Identifying utility lines and manage soil conditions.
• Setting up and cleaning work areas to maintain site safety.
• Participating in toolbox talks and contribute to a safe work culture.

About you

Our ideal candidate will have:

• Ability to safely operate mowers, blowers, compactors, and other landscaping equipment.
• Capable of lifting, digging, bending, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Assisting with fencing, paving, retaining walls, and irrigation systems.
• Familiarity with OH&S procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ability to follow instructions, work collaboratively, and communicate effectively on‑site.
• Punctual, dependable, and able to complete tasks efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Relevant licences, white card and first aid requirements are highly regarded.
