Job summary

St Anthony's School in Wanneroo is seeking a diligent grounds and maintenance worker to support daily operations. The role runs 6am–1.30pm with an initial contract from Term 4 to the end of Term 1, 2027, and may extend.

The position requires attention to safety, basic repairs, gardening, and the ability to work with staff and contractors. You will perform garden care, repairs, safety checks, and help with deliveries and event setup.

Qualifications

• Experience in general maintenance including plumbing and irrigation.
• Gardening and grounds maintenance knowledge.
• Strong organisational and time management abilities.
• Ability to work with others and communicate effectively.
• Willingness to perform physical tasks and safety-focused.
• Holder of a valid driver’s licence (C class) and able to pass a police clearance.

St Anthony's School, Wanneroo, is a co-educational double stream Catholic school that caters for over 440 students and their families from 3-Year-old Kindergarten to Year 6. Work hours are from 6am – 1.30pm each day.

The initial contract will begin in Term 4 and run until the end of Term 1, 2027 (9/4/2027), with the possibility of an extension.

Duties

• Routine garden maintenance: Trim hedges, weed garden beds, water plants and maintain outdoor play areas
• Ensure grounds are kept to a high standard, picking up rubbish, cobweb removal, reinstating pavement, and general repairs.
• Maintenance; repair locks, patch plaster, paint, basic plumbing repairs
• In consultation with the Assistant Principal, prepare regular status reports on facility operations and project progress for senior management.
• Work Health and Safety Compliance: Monitor and report hazards, conduct basic risk assessments, and ensure the safe use/storage of tools and chemicals
• Security and safety checks: Open/lock buildings and gates; perform routine inspection of grounds and buildings to ensure safety
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and report faults when necessary
• Assist with deliveries and waste management
• Assist in scheduling and supervising contractors or tradespeople on site as required
• Move and assembly of office furniture.
• Collect mail/running errands as required.
• Assisting with event set up.

Selection Criteria

• Strong organisation and time management skills.
• Knowledge and experience with maintenance work such as plumbing and basic irrigation repair
• Knowledge and/or experience with gardening requirements
• Teamwork and great communication
• Excellent organisational skills.
• Reliable, flexible, and punctual approach to your work
• Current Driver’s licence full C class essential
• National Police Clearance
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the role.
