Job summary

Palm Lake Resort Pelican Waters is seeking a committed Grounds Team Leader to supervise daily grounds maintenance and lead the team, ensuring facilities and grounds meet safety and presentation standards.

This role is full-time (38 hours per week, Monday to Friday) and requires Cert III Horticulture or equivalent, a valid C class driving licence, and the ability to work with minimal supervision while upholding safety and quality values.

Qualifications

• Qualification in Cert III Horticulture or equivalent is essential.
• Demonstrated experience in both leadership/supervisory & groundskeeping roles.
• Ability to use equipment such as push mower, ride on mower, hedge trimmer, whipper snipper and blower; HR or MR licence will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Assist in completion, allocation and supervision of work by grounds staff.
• Train grounds staff in the safe use, cleaning and storage of equipment & chemicals.
• Manage hazardous substance storage, labelling and registers.
• Ensure appropriate PPE use and provide staff training on correct PPE procedures.
• Hedge & tree trimming; mowing, edging & whipper snipping; control weeds and pests.
• Raking and blowing leaves, pruning and disposal of dying vegetation.
• Planting, mulching, and maintaining flowers and shrubs, including watering and irrigation maintenance.
• Oversee the outdoor presentation of all facilities, including BBQ & pool maintenance.
• Ensure all mechanical equipment and tools are kept in good working order.

Position Details

We’re looking for a committed and enthusiastic Grounds Team Leader to join our Palm Lake Resort Pelican Waters team and help keep our resort grounds in pristine condition.

This Full Time, 38 hour per week, Monday to Friday role combines hands‑on grounds maintenance with team leadership. You’ll coordinate daily maintenance and landscaping activities, support and guide the grounds team, and ensure equipment and work practices meet safety standards.

To excel in this role, you will bring:

• Qualification in Cert III Horticulture or equivalentis essential;

• Demonstrated experience in both leadership/supervisory & groundskeeping roles.

• A 'C' class drivers licence; HR or MR licence will be highly regarded.

• ACDC chemical licence is advantageous.

• Ability to use equipment such as push mower, ride on mower, hedge trimmer, whipper snipper and blower;

• Experience in machine maintenance;

• Possess the physical ability to undertake the requirements of the role, including bending, lifting and carrying;

• The ability to lead by example, plan & execute work with limited supervision;
