Job summary

Ingenia Communities Group is seeking a Casual Grounds & Maintenance Officer for our Cairns Coconut Holidays site, with Monday to Friday, 4pm–8pm shifts. You’ll help keep the park clean, safe and welcoming, ensuring guests enjoy a well-maintained environment every day.

Reporting to the Park Manager, you’ll perform repairs, routine inspections and maintenance across accommodation, facilities and shared areas, while supporting the team to present a vibrant, guest-ready site in tropical Cairns.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in general maintenance, facilities, building services, handyman work or similar practical role.
• Comfortable performing a broad range of repairs safely and to a high standard.
• Awareness of workplace health and safety, safe use of tools and chemicals, and when to involve a licensed tradesperson.

Responsibilities

• Complete scheduled, preventative and reactive maintenance across accommodation, amenities, facilities and shared areas.
• Diagnose maintenance issues and carry out general repairs (plumbing, carpentry, painting, fixtures, lighting, fencing, BBQs and equipment).
• Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests and provide practical solutions.
• Conduct routine inspections and safety checks, identify hazards, report damage or incidents, and help ensure site compliance and security.
• Maintain tools, equipment, plant rooms and maintenance areas, keeping them safe and organized.
• Support the wider team with site presentation and grounds tasks during busy periods.

In this Role, You’ll

• Diagnose maintenance issues and carry out general repairs, including basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, fixtures, lighting, fencing, BBQs and equipment.
• Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests, provide practical solutions and elevate licensed trade work when required.
• Conduct routine inspections and safety checks, identify hazards, report damage or incidents, and help ensure the site remains compliant and secure.
• Maintain tools, equipment, plant rooms and maintenance areas, keeping them safe, organised and ready for use.
• Support the wider team with site presentation and grounds tasks when needed, particularly during busy periods.

You’re Likely a Match If You

• Have hands-on experience in general maintenance, facilities, building services, handyman work or a similar practical role.
• Are confident troubleshooting issues and completing a broad range of repairs safely and to a high standard.
• Understand workplace health and safety, safe use of tools and chemicals, and when work must be referred to a licensed trade.
• Are organised and proactive, with the ability to prioritise urgent requests while staying on top of planned maintenance.
• Communicate clearly and build positive relationships with residents, guests, contractors and your team.
• Are reliable, safety-focused and comfortable completing physical, hands-on work both indoors and outdoors.
• Hold a current C class driver licence.
