The Opportunity

We are seeking a Grounds & Maintenance Supervisor to join our team on a full-time basis; the start date is negotiable.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading the College\'s grounds and maintenance function to ensure a safe, well-maintained, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The role combines team leadership and maintenance planning with hands-on trade work, ensuring the College\'s buildings, grounds, and facilities are kept to a high standard of safety, functionality, and presentation.

Essential Criteria

• Hold (or have the ability to obtain prior to commencement) a current Queensland Working with Children Positive Notice (Blue Card).
• Fully aligned with the values, virtues, and Christian beliefs of Freshwater Christian College
• Able to affirm the College's Statement of Faith
• Trade qualification (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, electrical, horticulture, or similar) with current relevant licence(s)
• Demonstrated experience in a supervisory or team leadership role
• Strong hands-on trade/maintenance skills and willingness to work alongside the team
• Sound understanding of WHS requirements in a maintenance/grounds context
• Current Queensland driver's licence
• Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands
• Good communication skills, able to liaise professionally with staff, contractors, and school leadership
• Ability to manage stock, inventory, and ordering processes
• Good interpersonal skills; able to work positively with students, staff, and suppliers
• Able to work independently, prioritise tasks, and manage time effectively
• Able to comply with College policies, procedures, codes of conduct, and training requirements (WHS, risk management, child protection, confidentiality)
• Possess the right to work in Australia without needing sponsorship.

Highly Regarded

• Experience working in a school or similarly complex facility environment
• Horticulture or turf management experience
• Experience with small plant/equipment operation and maintenance (mowers, ride‑ons, etc.)
• First Aid certification
• White Card (construction induction)
