Job summary

Fresh & Save Australia is seeking a Grocery Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day operation of the Grocery Department. This hands-on leadership role focuses on driving sales, managing stock, and maintaining strong merchandising standards while coaching a productive team.

You will work closely with the Store Manager to ensure the department is well stocked, commercially focused and delivers a great customer experience in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• Previous supermarket, grocery or FMCG experience.
• Previous supervisory or department management experience.
• Strong understanding of grocery operations, ordering and stock management.
• Commercially focused with an understanding of sales, gross profit, wages and department costs.
• Confident leading, coaching and developing a team.
• Strong merchandising and store presentation standards.
• Comfortable using computer-based retail and stock management systems.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Organised and able to balance administration with being hands-on in the department.
• Customer focused with strong communication skills.
• Able to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Committed to Food Safety and WH&S standards.
• Physically fit and able to fulfill the requirements of the role.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operation of the Grocery Department.
• Drive sales, gross profit and department performance against targets.
• Manage ordering, stock levels, stock rotation and stock control.
• Maintain strong price integrity and promotional execution.
• Identify opportunities to increase sales and minimise stock loss and waste.
• Manage department merchandising, displays, layouts and presentation.
• Ensure the department is full, appealing and appropriately stocked throughout trade.
• Manage supplier relationships, deliveries, credits and discrepancies.
• Monitor and control department wage costs and other expenses.
• Prepare rosters to maintain appropriate staffing levels within wage targets.
• Lead, train, coach and develop Grocery team members.
• Support recruitment, induction and performance management within the department.
• Maintain high standards of customer service and resolve customer concerns.
• Ensure compliance with Fresh & Save policies, Food Safety and WH&S requirements.
• Complete required department administration, reporting and system processes.
• Work collaboratively with the Store Manager and broader store management team.

About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Grocery Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day operation and performance of our Grocery Department.

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for driving sales and gross profit, managing stock and ordering, maintaining strong merchandising standards and leading a productive and engaged grocery team.

You’ll work closely with the Store Manager and broader management team to ensure the department is well stocked, commercially focused and delivering a great experience for our customers.

Full-Time 38 Hours
