Job summary

Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) is seeking an Electrical Engineer with power system focus to support the Congestion & Grid Engineering team within Near-Time Operations. You will model generators and networks in EMS, and assist with SCADA/AGC testing to help the control room operate grids and markets securely.

You will update EMS for system changes, assist in commissioning and registration of plants, and work with senior engineers to ensure reliable energy delivery as Australia pursues

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering with a power system focus.
• Energy sector experience or experience in a similar complex infrastructure environment.
• Experience with electrical power system modelling and analysis tools (such as SCADA/EMS).
• Understanding of the power system with the ability to apply this knowledge to solve technical problems.

Responsibilities

• Regular and timely updates to AEMO’s EMS to match with power system changes due to new generators, loads, batteries and network augmentation as well as improvement and fixes as reported by internal and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to the commissioning / registration of generating plant including SCADA list approval and point-to-point testing.
