Job summary

SMEC in Sydney seeks a Graduate Structural Engineer to join the Rail & Metro team in North Sydney. You’ll contribute to the delivery of major rail projects alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Exposure to design tools such as AutoCAD or Civil 3D (12D or similar advantageous).

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of real infrastructure projects from day one, contributing to design, analysis and documentation.
• Assist with engineering calculations and analysis across roads, drainage or structures under guidance.
• Participate in site visits and inspections to learn how designs are implemented on live projects.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate design inputs and milestones.
• Learn and apply industry standards and best practices through structured development.

The Role

We are seeking a recent Graduate Structural Engineer to join our Rail & Metro team in North Sydney.

Key responsibilities:

You'll support the delivery of real infrastructure projects from day one - contributing to design, analysis and documentation while learning from experienced engineers and gaining exposure to site and project delivery.

• Contribute to the delivery of real projects by supporting design development, including drawings, models and technical documentation
• Assist with engineering calculations and analysis across areas such as roads, drainage or structures under guidance from senior engineers
• Participate in site visits and inspections to develop an understanding of how designs are implemented on live projects
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate design inputs and support project delivery milestones
• Learn and apply industry standards, tools and best practice through structured development and on-the-job experience

About You

You're a motivated Civil Engineering graduate who enjoys problem-solving, working in teams, and contributing to real-world projects.

You will bring:

• A degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline)
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Exposure to design tools such as AutoCAD or Civil 3D (12D or similar advantageous)
