Job summary

Inner West Council in Sydney is seeking a Student/Graduate Engineer (Road Access) to support management of works in the public domain, protecting road, footpath, cycling and stormwater infrastructure. Working in the Traffic and Transport Planning team, you will help assess permits, designs and traffic management proposals while ensuring compliance with Council standards.

Qualifications

• Undertaking a Degree (Bachelor or Post-Graduate) in civil engineering, project management, construction management or other appropriate discipline recognised by relevant Australian professional institute.
• A strong customer service ethic and attention to detail.
• Ability to think strategically with demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment and meet project deadlines.
• Proficiency in the use of computer programs (spreadsheet, database, graphics, word processing).
• Current NSW Class C Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Assist in management of works within the public domain and protecting Council's road, footpath, cycling and stormwater infrastructure.
• Assist with assessment of permits, engineering designs and traffic management proposals.
• Support compliance with Council standards, policies and legislative requirements.
• Gain broad exposure to infrastructure management and practical engineering tasks.
• Collaborate with Council teams, contractors, developers and the community to deliver safe, well-managed outcomes.
