Job summary

Berendsen Fluid Power in Wollongong is seeking a Graduate Engineer/Workshop Planner to join our service team. The role blends technical learning with hands-on planning in a busy workshop and machine shop.

You will support hydraulic product selection, estimate workflows, prepare quotes, visit customer sites, and help ensure safe, efficient operations while building a long-term career with our national company.

Qualifications

• Recent Mechanical Engineering degree or diploma or relevant hands-on experience.
• Interest in hydraulics.
• Effective communication, time management and organisation skills.
• Sound computer literacy in Microsoft Office.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work autonomously and within a team.
• Safety-minded with a long-term career focus with Berendsen.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to customers on hydraulic product selection, application, maintenance and repair.
• Estimate and coordinate job workflow through to completion.
• Prepare and present quotes and estimates for repair, manufacturing and project work.
• Visit customer sites to build relationships and develop business.
• Verify hydraulic cylinder repair scopes, including material selection, modifications and manufacturing processes.
• Support the safe operation of the workshop while meeting customer requirements.
• Act as first point of contact with sales, customers, suppliers and contractors.

Job description

Due to consistent growth across our business, we are seeking a motivated Graduate Engineer / Workshop Planner to join our high-performing team in Wollongong.

This is a pivotal role within our service department. Berendsen Fluid Power operates a well-equipped workshop and machine shop that overhauls and rebuilds hydraulic cylinders, pumps and motors, and is the base for a team of field service technicians providing breakdown and maintenance services to hydraulic equipment users throughout the Illawarra region.

Reporting directly to the Service Manager, this is an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified graduate to learn all facets of the business and forge a genuine career pathway within this growing national company.

The Role

With training, mentoring and practical work experience, you will develop the skills and knowledge to undertake activities such as:

• Providing technical support to customers on hydraulic product selection, application, maintenance and repair
• Estimating and coordinating job workflow through to completion
• Preparing and presenting quotes and estimates for repair, manufacturing and project work
• Visiting customer sites to build relationships and develop business
• Verifying hydraulic cylinder repair scopes, including material selection, modifications and manufacturing processes
• Supporting the commercially sound operation of the workshop while meeting customer requirements

About You

To be considered for this role, you will have:

• A recent Mechanical Engineering degree or diploma, or relevant hands-on experience in a similar role
• An interest in hydraulics
• Effective communication, time management and organisation skills
• Sound computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work autonomously and within a team
