Job summary

Canberra Metro Operations (CMET) is seeking a Graduate Engineer to join our Engineering team in Canberra. This entry-level role provides hands-on experience supporting the safe and efficient operation of Canberra’s light rail network.

Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager, you will assist with asset management, routine duties and ad hoc tasks, while building skills in data quality, reporting and documentation under guidance.

Qualifications

• Must have an undergraduate degree in Engineering (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, Systems or related).
• Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication and reporting skills.
• Excellent organisation, planning, reporting, problem-solving and coordination abilities.
• Holds a current C class driver licence.
• Desirable knowledge includes rail infrastructure, asset management and maintenance environments.

Responsibilities

• Support the Engineering and Maintenance team with tasks to support railway operation.
• Assist with infrastructure defect management including assessment, reporting, quotations and supports through to completion.
• Prepare checklists, reports and documentation under guidance of Infrastructure Manager and Asset Engineer.
• Maintain data quality in the Enterprise Asset Management system and investigate faults.
• Complete ad hoc tasks and provide progress updates.
• Assist with development and review of internal standards and procedures.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Adhere to CMET practices, policies and procedures and suggest improvements.
• Participate in ongoing engineering and maintenance activities supporting CMET goals.
