Job summary

SMEC, part of the Surbana Jurong Group, is seeking a Graduate Electrical Engineer to join the Rail & Metro Sydney team in NSW. You will contribute to major rail infrastructure projects alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists.

Our two-year GDP combines hands-on project experience with structured learning, mentoring and exposure across teams and disciplines to accelerate your growth.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Exposure to design tools such as AutoCAD or Civil 3D (12D or similar advantageous).

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of real infrastructure projects from day one in design, analysis and documentation.
• Assist with engineering calculations and analysis across roads, drainage or structures.
• Participate in site visits to understand how designs are implemented on live projects.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate design inputs and milestones.
• Learn and apply industry standards and best practices through development and on-the-job experience.

The Role We are seeking a recent Graduate Electrical Engineer to join our Rail & Metro team in North Sydney. As a Graduate at SMEC, you'll be part of a high-impact talent group, contributing to the delivery of major rail and metro infrastructure projects alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists. Our two-year Graduate Development Program (GDP) is designed to accelerate your growth - combining hands-on project experience with structured learning, mentoring, and exposure across teams and disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• You’ll support the delivery of real infrastructure projects from day one - contributing to design, analysis and documentation while learning from experienced engineers and gaining exposure to site and project delivery.
• Contribute to the delivery of real projects by supporting design development, including drawings, models and technical documentation
• Assist with engineering calculations and analysis across areas such as roads, drainage or structures under guidance from senior engineers
• Participate in site visits and inspections to develop an understanding of how designs are implemented on live projects
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate design inputs and support project delivery milestones
• Learn and apply industry standards, tools and best practice through structured development and on-the-job experience

About You

You’re a motivated Electrical Engineering graduate who enjoys problem-solving, working in teams, and contributing to real-world projects.

You will bring:
