City of Hobsons Bay is seeking a Graduate Drainage and Development Engineer in Melbourne to work within the drainage and development team. You will gain hands-on experience in drainage investigations, flood mitigation, development assessments and asset management projects that safeguard and enhance community infrastructure while developing technical and professional skills.

The role is a full-time fixed-term opportunity until October 2028, with hybrid working options and a Band 5 salary plus

Formación

• Degree qualification in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Recent graduate or engineer with less than two years of relevant experience.
• Eligibility for membership with Engineers Australia or equivalent body.

Responsabilidades

• Support drainage investigations, asset management and maintenance programs contributing to flood mitigation and community safety.
• Assist with assessing development applications and engineering plans for compliance with standards and policies.
• Help manage engineering service requests, including Legal Point of Discharge and Build Over Easement applications.
• Contribute to strategic drainage planning and Integrated Water Management initiatives using GIS tools and spatial analysis.
• Build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders while providing timely engineering advice and support.

The opportunityThis is an exciting graduateopportunity for a recent Civil Engineering graduate to buildhands-on experience in drainage and development engineering withinlocal government. Working alongside experienced engineers, you'llcontribute to drainage investigations, flood mitigationinitiatives, development assessments and asset management projectsthat help protect and enhance community infrastructure whiledeveloping your technical and professional skills.

What you'll do

What you need to succeed

• Degree qualification in Civil Engineering or a relatedengineering discipline.
• Recent graduate or engineer with less than two years ofrelevant experience.
• Eligibility for membership with Engineers Australia orequivalent professional body.
• Understanding of drainage management principles and aninterest in development engineering.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication andstakeholder engagement skills.
