Job summary

DDEG is seeking a Graduate/entry-level Access Consultant to join its Disability Access team in Brisbane. You will work with experienced consultants on a range of access-related projects, including SDA and Livable Housing Australia, contributing to nationwide projects from our Brisbane office.

You will assess architectural documentation, provide design advice, perform onsite inspections, and develop practical design alternatives that meet legislative requirements.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Building Surveying or Diploma in Design/Architecture is preferred but not required.
• Certificate IV or Diploma of Access Consultancy is not required but favourable.
• Creativity, driven, attention to detail; positive and proactive mindset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Exceptional time-management and ability to work independently or in a team.

About the Role
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Graduate/entry-level Access Consultant to join our Disability Access team in our Brisbane office. You'll be at the forefront of an established discipline, working alongside a dynamic group of professionals in a positive and energetic environment.

As our Brisbane office continues to experience significant growth, you will play a key role in shaping the future of this expanding team. With opportunities for increased responsibilities, you’ll collaborate with experienced consultants and contribute to high-profile projects nationwide.

Your role will involve a wide variety of access-related areas, including assessing architectural documentation, providing design advice and alternatives, onsite inspections and working on Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), Livable Housing Australia (LHA), etc.

The Role

Duties will include:

Preparation of written reports;

Analyse and interpret legislation;

Developing practical design alternatives that satisfy legislative requirements;

Communicating requirements with clients;

Self-management of clients and projects;

Input and advice on access design documentation (drawings);

Undertaking onsite access inspections; and

Some past relevant experience would be favourable but not essential. All relevant training will be provided.

Skills & Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

Certificate IV or Diploma of Access Consultancy is not required, but would be favourable;

Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Building Surveying; or

Diploma in Design or Architecture is preferred but not required;

Creativity, driven, attention to detail;

Positive and proactive mindset;

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;

Exceptional time-management skills/experience;

High capacity for critical and analytical thinking;

Ability to work independently, as well as in a larger team.
